DeviceNet Network
DeviceNet was originally developed by Allen-Bradley as a network for sensors, actuators, and other discrete devices, and later the specifications were opened. Now, major automotive manufactures and various industries employ DeviceNet networks.

The network configuration is based on the bus system. The basic network consists of a trunkline-dropline topology. Multi-drop or daisy-chain configuration is also possible.

The DeviceNet protocol is based on CAN (Contoller Area Network) which has been widely used for networks on automobiles, making it possible to configure reliable networks with high noise immunity.
